Bunbury vasectomy services

Vasectomies are safe and simple procedures and are the only permanent form of contraception for men. They are also less expensive and more straightforward than female sterilisation.

Brecken GP, Dr Hein Gildenhuys, has many years of experience in performing vasectomies. He is also the only GP in the team able to perform the procedure.

How do I book?

If you’re looking to book a vasectomy, book your initial consultation online through our website by selecting the vasectomy initial consultation appointment type. Alternatively, you can call our reception team.

When you decide to proceed with the vasectomy after your consultation, speak to our receptionists to book your appointment and ensure the appropriate booking time is given and procedure room is available.

Brecken accepts both new and existing patients.

What’s involved in the initial consultation?

Before the procedure, all patients must have an initial consultation. This will involve discussing the procedures and conducting a brief medical examination if necessary. This consultation will also allow patients the opportunity to ask any questions prior to the procedure.

Patients should feel free to bring partners along to the consultation if desired.

If the patient wants to proceed, then we’ll book you in for your procedure, which will be performed by Dr Hein Gildenhuys on a separate day to the initial consultation. As part of the initial consultation, you will be provided with both pre- and post-care instructions.

What’s involved in the procedure?

The procedure will be conducted by Dr Gildenhuys and an assisting treatment room nurse. At least 40 minutes should be allowed for the procedure.

In most cases, it is safe to drive to and from the surgery. However, if you are prone to fainting or you receive sedation, we recommend arranging a lift to and from the appointment.

Before the procedure, you will need to sign consent forms and will be provided with post-care instructions to follow at home.
